September 2010 - 2Q 2010 Data is Live in Peer to Peer

2Q 2010 data is live in Peer to Peer. Have you started your mid-year analysis yet? Right now, credit unions are facing many potential changes - the NCUA board has promised to present next steps for the Corporate rule and the legacy assets in addition to their recent announcement on the year's second premium assessment. On top of that, the upcoming fall elections may affect financial policy based on who controls the House and Senate.

Have you analyzed your performance in each of these different scenarios? Peer to Peer can help you find opportunities in your credit union's data that can influence your strategic planning and help you make the most out of this new regulatory environment. Here's one example of how you can use data and mathematical formulas in Peer to look at the changing environment. This CRC file, put together for the year's first premium assessment, shows the affect of a single charge.

August 2010 - Special Focus: Unfunded Commitments and Lines of Credit

When analyzing your member business loan portfolio or comparing to peers remember to look at any unfunded commitments for business loans. Page 10 of the NCUA Call Report has three specific account codes to gauge a credit union's involvement and potential risk in business lending:

1A) Unfunded commercial real estate (account code 814)
1B) Unfunded construction and land development (account code 814A1)
1C) Other unfunded business loan commitments (account code 814A)

Download the custom MBL display from our Custom Reports page in order to analyze these account codes.

Peer to Peer users automatically have access to FirstLook - it's not a separate product and does not require a separate subscription. The only thing it does require is for you to import the FirstLook data set manually into Peer to Peer - even if you utilize Auto Updates.

Visit the FirstLook page to learn more.

June 2010 - Your Peer Subscription Includes CUSP

Peer to Peer includes a subscription to Credit Union Strategy & Performance (CUSP), Callahan & Associates' quarterly journal, starting with the 1Q 2010 issue available in July.

Every quarter, CUSP breaks down industry trends and filters out information that is imperative for effective decision making.  Now you will learn quarterly strategies for navigating through the latest industry challenges, straight from Callahan's analysts, leading credit unions, industry experts and other CUSP contributors! Combining this analysis with the detailed analysis you do of your own credit union will allow you to develop a more holistic view of your performance.

Each issue of CUSP contains an analysis of how credit unions are performing in the market, along with reference articles and best-practice case studies highlighting successful credit unions. Subscribers also receive our quarterly Technology & Operations Supplement, Technology@CU, which provides a complete picture of the technology affecting credit unions today.

Download Custom CUSP Graphs!

Wherever you see the Peer symbol in CUSP (see below), it indicates data pulled from Callahan & Associates' Peer to Peer software. You will be able to visit CUSP Online to download the custom graphing files that allow you to quickly pull the data shown in these graphs, tables and charts. This means that you will be albe to overlay your credit union's performance to see how you compare on many of the displays!
