FirstLook
You can view quarterly call report data weeks before its release by the NCUA through participation in Callahan & Associates' FirstLook Program. Through our relationships within the credit union industry, we are able to compile the data early and then release it for your use.
Each quarter, we incorporate 99% of the total number of industry assets into the program in order to give you a head start on analyzing your credit union's most recent quarterly results! This makes FirstLook the most complete and actionable data set prior to the official release.
Early access to the quarterly data gives you an undeniable strategic advantage. It can help you:
- Promptly identify industry trends, so that you can react to them before your peers
- Pinpoint leaders in the industry that have been successful during these uncertain times
- Locate your peer group to set benchmark standards and perform a deeper comparison analysis
- Communicate with your Board, management team, and regulators to chart a new path for growth and success
FirstLook is not a separate product than Peer to Peer. It is a free service that Callahan & Associates provides in order to enhance and improve your financial analysis.

What FirstLook Data is Available?
The FirstLook dataset reflects the full 5300 Call Report data for credit unions who submit their XML files directly to 5300@creditunions.com.
For the remaining credit unions, FirstLook contains a near-complete dataset. The majority of missing data is CUSO information, number of loans (outstanding, originated or delinquent), and totals for term shares and investments (ie Share Certificates Less Than 1 Year and Deposits in Commercial Banks > 5 - 10 years).
Each quarter, we highlight the account codes that are missing from the credit unions that did not submit their XML files during the FirstLook Program. This should help steer your analysis so that you can make the most out of the available data.
